East meets west with this quick and easy carbonara-inspired udon noodles!
Ingredients
- 1 TBS TAPPED D'arce chili oil
- 1 TBS Miso
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- Udon
- Scallions
- Furikake
- 1 Egg
Instructions
- Start out by slicing your scallions. We like to make long matchstick-like shapes with them because it holds on to the noodles better when you're eating it. Once sliced, shock the scallions in ice water for 5 mins then drain and pat dry with paper towel. This will give it that beautiful ribbon like curls.
- Next, bring water to a boil. Add your udon noodles. No salt is needed for the water.
- While the noodles are boiling, make the udon sauce. On a skillet, add 1 tablespoon of Tapped Chili Oil, 1 tablespoon of miso, and about half a cup of heavy cream. Stir that together in high heat. Once the sauce can coat the back of your spoon, kill the heat. Then add your udon noodles straight from the pot to the sauce you made. Stir it up and transfer the noodles to a bowl.
- Top it off with some furikake and one egg yolk to give it more richness. Finally, finish it with those beautiful scallion ribbons you made.
